It&#8217;s handy because it can be both frequent and areally distributed.<\/p>\n<p>This <a href=\"https:\/\/all-geo.org\/jefferson\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/radarrainfall.pdf\">NWS newsletter does a great job of going over the basics of how weather radar can be used to derive rainfall rates and totals<\/a>.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/water.weather.gov\/precip\/\">This page gives a seamless map of 1-day precipitation totals<\/a>\u00a0for the US, derived from radar measurements.
