Undergraduate research assistant to work in the Ecology and Biogeochemistry of Watersheds (EBOW) Laboratory

Here’s an opportunity to get some research experience working on urban streams for UNC Charlotte undergraduate students:

We are seeking an undergraduate to assist ongoing research projects in the Ecology and Biogeochemistry of Watersheds (EBOW) Laboratory of Dr. Sara McMillan and Dr. Sandra Clinton at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Our work broadly addresses the interactions between ecology and biogeochemistry in aquatic ecosystems. The student will support research activities studying the effectiveness of stream and watershed restoration projects in the Charlotte area. Duties will primarily include analysis of water chemistry and sediment samples, cleaning glassware and entering environmental data into spreadsheets. The student will work directly with graduate students and periodically assist with field surveys and laboratory experiments. The student will also have the opportunity to perform independent research complementary to the larger projects. Preferred qualifications include laboratory experience and computer skills (Word, Excel). More importantly, the ideal candidate will have a strong interest in environmental science/ecology, be energetic and inquisitive and have good teamwork skills. The position is part-time (approximately 10 hrs/week) at $8.00/hr.
