Today the spotlight shines on the pirate-anical gang at <a href=\"http:\/\/deepseanews.com\/\">Deep Sea News<\/a>. As well as being a firm supporter of quality science education in schools, DSN Stalwart Kevin Zelnio has <a href=\"http:\/\/deepseanews.com\/2011\/10\/help-us-support-oceans-in-the-classroom\/\">a personal stake<\/a> in their drive:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>These impoverished schools are the schools I am sending my son to, and next year my daughter. These impoverished families \u2013 who cannot afford school supplies, have jobless parents and qualify for free lunches \u2013 is my family.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.donorschoose.org\/donors\/proposal.html?id=617243&#038;challengeid=196380\">The list of worthy projects<\/a> that the DSN team is endorsing includes a soon-to-expire <a href=\"http:\/\/www.donorschoose.org\/donors\/proposal.html?id=617243&#038;challengeid=196380\">proposal to buy a salt water aquarium<\/a> so that first-graders can get a close-up look at ocean creatures. They&#8217;re also going to be learning about Paleozoic ocean life from hundreds of million years ago &#8211; perhaps they&#8217;ll be doing both and raising a horseshoe crab! If you can spare a few dollars, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.donorschoose.org\/donors\/proposal.html?id=617243&#038;challengeid=196380\">head over and donate<\/a> &#8211; and help to provide kids like Kevin&#8217;s with the education they deserve.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d also like to thank everyone who as donated through the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.donorschoose.org\/donors\/leadershipboard.html?category=278\">Geology and Ocean bloggers collective<\/a> so far.
