{"id":3241,"date":"2007-11-28T10:55:14","date_gmt":"2007-11-28T10:55:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/all-geo.org\/highlyallochthonous\/2007\/11\/lusi-update\/"},"modified":"2007-11-28T10:55:14","modified_gmt":"2007-11-28T10:55:14","slug":"lusi-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/all-geo.org\/highlyallochthonous\/2007\/11\/lusi-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Lusi update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b><a href=https:\/\/all-geo.org\/highlyallochthonous\/category\/lusi\/>The latest from Lusi<\/a><\/b><br \/>\nIt&#8217;s been some time since I last checked in on <a href=https:\/\/all-geo.org\/highlyallochthonous\/category\/lusi\/>Lusi, the mad-made mud volcano<\/a>, but <a href=http:\/\/www.csmonitor.com\/2007\/1128\/p01s04-woap.html>this account of conditions on the ground<\/a> in the <i>Christian Science Monitor<\/i> prompted me to check out the latest satellite images. The picture on the left below is from <a href=http:\/\/www.crisp.nus.edu.sg\/coverages\/mudflow\/index_IK_p19.html>early June this year<\/a> (follow the link to the University of Singapore&#8217;s Centre for Remote Imaging, Sensing and Processing for access to a larger image), which I used in <a href=https:\/\/all-geo.org\/highlyallochthonous\/2007\/08\/lusi-not-man-made-after-all\/>my last update<\/a>; on the right is <a href=http:\/\/www.crisp.nus.edu.sg\/coverages\/mudflow\/index_IK_p24.html>the most recent shot<\/a>, taken on the 22nd November.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Lusi_Nov.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/all-geo.org\/highlyallochthonous\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Lusi_Nov.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"273\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From this elevated perspective, it appears that the earth dams thrown up by the Indonesian authorities have become much more substantial, and are now managing to contain the outflow of hot mud to a certain extent; from the colour of the river it looks like much of the tens of thousands of cubic metres being erupted every day is being diverted into it.
