Since I can&#8217;t translate Indonesian, I can&#8217;t give you the full technical details, but it seems that there have been two major developments since the intense seismicity of two weekends ago:<br \/>\n<UL><LI>Last week <a href=http:\/\/www.thejakartapost.com\/detailweekly.asp?fileid=20071107.@02>a lava dome gradually rose out of the crater lake<\/a>, and in the end pushed all the water out &#8211; good news for those worrying about lahars (volcanic mud flows). <\/LI><br \/>\n<LI>This fairly minor eruptive activity seems to have been sufficient to relieve the pressure that had been building up in Kelud&#8217;s magma chamber, because <a href= http:\/\/www.thejakartapost.com\/yesterdaydetail.asp?fileid=20071109.G01>seismic activity has fallen away significantly<\/a> in recent days<\/LI><\/UL><br \/>\nBefore everyone gets too comfortable, though, <a href=http:\/\/www.thejakartapost.com\/detailgeneral.asp?fileid=20071107224634&#038;irec=38>the soothsayers are still predicting an eruption within the next week<\/a>. One of them apparently feeds the spirit of the mountain coffee.
