{"id":3164,"date":"2007-08-10T12:22:04","date_gmt":"2007-08-10T12:22:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/all-geo.org\/highlyallochthonous\/2007\/08\/evolutionary-humour-sa-style\/"},"modified":"2007-08-10T12:22:04","modified_gmt":"2007-08-10T12:22:04","slug":"evolutionary-humour-sa-style","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/all-geo.org\/highlyallochthonous\/2007\/08\/evolutionary-humour-sa-style\/","title":{"rendered":"Evolutionary Humour, SA style"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The last couple of days have been public holidays here &#8211; yesterday was <a href=http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Women's_Day>National Women&#8217;s Day<\/a> &#8211; and today I took advantage of this to visit the <a href=http:\/\/www.sa-venues.com\/attractionsga\/cradle-of-humankind.htm>Cradle of Humankind<\/a> World Heritage Site &#8211; specifically the Sterkfontein Caves, a very important location in the study of early hominids.  I&#8217;ll probably write a more detailed post about my visit over the weekend, but it&#8217;s nice to see that despite its noticeable religious conservatism, South Africa&#8217;s palaeoanthropological heritage is being properly celebrated and made open to the public.
