Chris: Although I’ve been having fun building my sandbox model, it’s also pretty fun when the building phase gives way to the ‘seeing what it can do’ phase. The animation above shows the results of one recent test run: hopefully you can see the shortening of the whole sand pile, the build up of topography and – most importantly – the folds and fault-like structures that accommodate the crumpling up of the different coloured layers of sand.
